Your 6 Days Primates and Wildlife Safari takes you exploring parks in Uganda’s western circuit. You will go wildlife viewing, chimpanzee trekking and gorilla trekking. This is a popular combination of primates and wildlife offering exciting experiences. The tour is meant to start and end in Entebbe or Kampala.

Detailed Itenary

Day 1: Drive from Kampala to Queen Elizabeth National Park

This morning, you will be met by our company safari driver who will be your private driver for this trip. Check out of your city hotel and start the journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park. It will be about a 7-hour drive, but the scenery along the way is worth the long drive. About an hour from Kampala, you will have a stopover in Kayabwe for the equator experience. In the evening, you will check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Morning game drive and boat cruise

You will start the day with an early morning game drive in the north of Queen Elizabeth National Park where your chances of encountering most animals are high. This will take about 4 hours of exploring the plains where you may see lions, elephants, antelopes, buffaloes, and leopards.  After the game drive, you will return to the lodge for breakfast and later have lunch. In the afternoon, you will set out for a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, which offers a great opportunity to see hippos, crocodiles, and more buffaloes, and elephants. Later, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Chimp trekking in Kalinzu Forest Reserve and transfer to Bwindi

After an early morning breakfast, you will depart to Kalinzu Forest Reserve, where you will partake in a trekking experience, mainly for the chimpanzees. You may also see other animals like forest elephants, leopards, duikers and hyrax.

You will depart for Bwindi south of Queen Elizabeth National Park in the afternoon. This is a 4-hour drive from including a short game drive in Ishasha for a chance to see the tree-climbing lions. Arrive at the lodge, check-in, have dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After an early breakfast at the lodge, you will drive to the park headquarters for briefing before starting your gorilla trekking adventure. Enter the forest and start the search for the allocated gorilla family. The trek can take anything from 2-8 hours depending on the location of the gorillas. Once you spot them, you will spend a memorable hour in their presence and be allowed to take photos for this unforgettable experience. After the trek, you will return to the park offices for your trekking certificates, return to the lodge and rest. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 5: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

A leisurely breakfast at the lodge before checking out. Thereafter, get on the road and drive to Lake Mburo National Park. It is a scenic drive through the winding roads of Kabale. On arrival at the park, you will check in to the lodge and later go for an evening game drive. Animals that you may see include zebras, giraffes, antelopes, and buffaloes among others. Leopards are also present in the park but rarely spotted.

Drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Morning game drive and Departure

Have an early breakfast at the lodge, check out and go for one more game drive before exiting the park to return to Entebbe. If you did not have the chance to stop at the equator on the first day, you may stop on return for photographic opportunities. Proceed to the airport to catch your flight back home.
