Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Volcanoes National Park

After arriving at Kigali International Airport and successfully going through the immigration, you will meet your driver guide who will receive you and transfer you to the hotel for lunch. This is the moment they will also give you a briefing on the tour before proceeding with the road transfer to Volcanoes National Park. The drive takes you through the hilly region to the cool and calm Musanze district. Along the way, you will enjoy the scenic views on clear days. Just like Kigali, Musanze is neat.

On arrival at the lodge, the team at the property will help you to check in. Later, have dinner, prepare for the next day, and rest.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking and optional visit to the Ellen DeGeneres Campus

Musanze is a beautiful town and you will love the views of the Virunga mountains all through. After an early breakfast at the lodge, you will meet your private driver and head to the park headquarters for a briefing. In groups of a maximum of 8 people, you will be allocated different gorilla families. Set off to track the gorillas with the guidance of park rangers. Depending on the location of these primates, you could find them after about an hour or so. Once you spot the mountain gorillas, you will be in their presence and watch them for one hour before starting your return trek.

At the end of the trek, drive back to the lodge, have lunch, and visit the Ellen campus of Dian Fossey. From here, return to the lodge and spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing at the lodge.

Day 3: Drive back to Kigali

Begin your day with a leisurely breakfast at the lodge before checking out. The hotel staff and driver will assist you with taking the bags out of the room to the vehicle. Set off and drive back to Kigali for your departure flight.

On arrival in Kigali, you will first go for a short tour around the Genocide Memorial. This gives you an insight of the Rwanda genocide of 1994 and how the country has incredibly grown in the last 30 years.

From here, you will have lunch and later transfer to the airport for your flight back home.
