This 14-day safari offers the best of wildlife for travelers who want to explore pristine destinations like Uganda. You will visit parks and other destinations in the western region of Uganda. Highlight activities of the safari include game drives, gorilla trekking, chimpanzee trekking and boat cruises.
Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe International Airport and transfer to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary
Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be welcomed by our driver/guide who will drive you to the restaurant for lunch and give a briefing of the tour. Later, drive out of Kampala to your lodge at Ziwa in Nakasongola. When you arrive here, you will have dinner and rest.
Day 2: Rhino tracking and a transfer to Murchison Falls National Park
After breakfast, enjoy a walk through the savannah at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary in search of rhinos. You will be guided by a ranger guide who will also share more information about conservation and other wildlife in this place apart from the rhinos. Once you locate the rhinos, you will have a beautiful moment to watch them, learn about them and take photos. From here, set off to Murchison Falls National Park where you will arrive in the afternoon and visit the top of the falls. At this point, you will experience the beauty of the River Nile waters squeezing through a 7 meter gorge deep down over 45metres and hence making a thunderous roar from mighty falls.
Proceed to your booked lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3: Game drive and launch cruise
Wake up early for breakfast before driving to the plains to search for game. While on the drive, you will see herds of buffaloes, antelopes and giraffes. You may also see elephants, lions, and leopards.
After hours of the drive, return to the lodge for lunch and later go for the afternoon launch cruise along the Albert Nile. Here, you have chances to see semi-aquatic animals like hippos and crocodiles along the river banks. Elephants can be spotted taking water, and many bird species are seen almost throughout the trip. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 4: Transfer to Kibale National Park
After your breakfast, check out and proceed to your next destination – Kibale National Park. En route, the drive rewards you with scenic views of the western rift valley, and later the Rwenzori Mountains. When you arrive at the lodge in the late afternoon or in the evening you will check in, have dinner, prepare for the next day and rest.
Day 5: Chimpanzee tracking in Kibale forest and Bigodi swamp walk
After an early breakfast, your driver will transfer you to the park headquarters where you be briefed about the activity including the rules and regulations while trekking. You will be guided by the ranger through the forest, and they will share information about the chimpanzees and other wildlife of the park. Chimpanzees are one of the most fascinating creatures to encounter; they are playful and their mans familiar characteristics make them even more attractive.
Other primates that you may spot in the forest include the grey-checked mangabey, red colobus, black-and-white colobus, and Baboons, and a variety of bird species like the great blue turaco.
Drive back to the lodge, have lunch and later in the evening go for a guided walk through Bigodi swamp. It gives another opportunity to see several bird species and you may also see more primates.
Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 6: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
You will have a relaxed breakfast and check out of the lodge. As you start the journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park, you will have several stops for scenic viewing. Have lunch at the lodge and go for an evening game drive in Kasenyi. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Day 7: Game drive and Launch cruise
Morning game drive in Kasenyi. It will reward you with views of Uganda kobs, buffaloes, waterbucks and warthogs. You may also spot lions or a leopard. Wildlife viewing in Queen Elizabeth National Park is featured by scenic viewing in Bunyampaka and the views of the Rwenzori Mountains.
Return to the lodge for lunch and later go for the boat cruise along the Kazinga channel. One thing you can also be guaranteed to see while on the boat cruise are the hippos. Other animals commonly seen here include crocodiles, buffaloes, elephants and different bird species.
Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 8: Transfer from Queen Elizabeth National Park to Bwindi
From Queen Elizabeth National Park to Bwindi, you will drive via the Ishasha sector where you will have a short game drive for a chance to see the tree-climbing lions. You will have enroute lunch and arrive at your lodge in Bwindi in the evening. Prepare for the next day’s adventure, have dinner, and retire to your guest room.
Day 9: Gorilla trekking experience
You will meet your driver/guide early in the morning, have your breakfast, pack your lunch, and head to the park headquarters. There, you will undergo a briefing in preparation for the gorilla trek. Park rangers will guide you as you search for the mountain gorillas and once you spot them, you will stay with them for an hour. Depending on the time the trek ends, you can go for a village tour to spend some time with the Bakiga or Batwa.
Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 10: Transfer to Kabale and Lake Bunyonyi
After breakfast, drive to the lovely Lake Bunyonyi. This is one of the most picturesque lakes in Uganda. This afternoon, you will engage in activities such as swimming, bird watching, and hiking.
Day 11: Full day at Lake Bunyonyi
Breakfast will be served early in the morning, and you will later go on a full-day boat tour on the lake to explore some of the 29 islands on the lake. You will learn quite a number of things such as the history of the lake and surrounding areas.
When you return to the mainland in the evening, you will be welcomed back to the lodge, have dinner and rest.
Day 12: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park
Breakfast at leisure and check out. Drive to Lake Mburo, have lunch at the lodge, and go for an evening game drive. Common animals that you may see are Zebras, Kobs, Impalas, bush and water bucks. Dinner and overnight at your booked lodge.
Day 13: Horseback riding and boat ride on Lake Mburo
A full day to explore Lake Mburo National Park will start with breakfast at the lodge before you head out for a horseback ride. Lake Mburo National Park is the only park in Uganda where you can do horseback ring. It allows you a chance to watch wildlife while on a horse rather than in a safari vehicle. Return to the lodge for relaxation, and later go for the afternoon boat
Day 14: Transfer to Kampala
You will exit the park and return to Kampala. Stop at the equator for photography and proceed to Entebbe International Airport.
